HYDERABAD: SCHOOL DIRECTOR, PRINCIPAL, TEACHER JAILED FOR BEATING 4-YEAR-OLD BOY

A four-year-old boy was mercilessly beaten up by his class teacher and school principal reportedly for not paying the school fee in time. School director, principal and the teacher have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

The episode happened in Meerpet area, which falls under the Rachakonda police commissionerate in Hyderabad, on Monday. According to the police, school teacher Swaroopa beat the boy with a scale as principal Padmaja Raj held him tight. The boy had marks all over his body.

However, he did not reveal it to his parents when he went home in the evening. His mother Sujatha noticed the bruises on his body while giving him a bath. When questioned, he told her that the teacher had warned him against revealing the punishment to his parents.

Balala Hakkula Sangham (Child Rights Association) took it to the notice of Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat. The Meerpet police registered a case against teacher Swaroopa, principal Padmaja Raj and director Gopal Reddy under Indian Penal Code Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act.

The police arrested the three on Tuesday and sent them to judicial custody. The Child Rights Association appealed to the advocates in the city not to argue for the school people, who behaved inhumanly with a child. It also demanded the government to take over the school.
